Joy left my house today
It ran out all wrapped in warm golden fur
As happy as ever to go for a walk
Did he know he wasn't coming back?
Did he feel my heart break?

More bouncy and happy than when he arrived
There was a spring in his step
and a smile in his eyes

And now I look for that furry face
by the back door, waiting to come in

I miss his warm furry body
I miss his shredding newspapers
And tossing toys in the air
